Encourage shoppers to unlock free shipping with product suggestions in checkout

Designed to boost sales and make your customers happier during checkout, we've built the Free Shipping Upsell tool. It suggests the products your shoppers can add to their cart to unlock free shipping (by getting above your free shipping threshold).

Getting set up

To access it, go to Delivery Methods, then click on Checkout Components, followed by Checkout Upsell in the dropdown menu.

Here you can customize your Checkout Upsell:

  1. To add the upsell widget into your checkout, copy and paste the 'Token for Shopify' into your checkout (more on this below)

  2. Under Settings you can give your widget an internal description and title that are visible only to you and your team

  3. With Threshold, choose your country, set your threshold and currency. Select or deselect US states and add multiple thresholds for shipping flexibility. This determines which products will be suggested to shoppers (according to their prices).

Once you're set, click Save.

Make sure you have a delivery method set up that's only displayed above a certain cart size, otherwise this widget can't suggest products to push shoppers above the threshold. You can always work backwards and set up a new Free Delivery Method with a minimum purchase requirement for free shipping set up in the widget.

Adding the widget to your store

After setting that up, enter your store's Shopify account, go to Online Store > Customize > Shipping (from the dropdown menu). Add an App Block, choose PDQ Checkout Upsell, enter the relevant Checkout Upsell Token, and click save.

That's it!

Once setup is complete, when customers are in your checkout and their cart total is below the Free Shipping threshold, they'll see suggested products to add to their cart to unlock free shipping. A progress bar will be displayed, turning green as they add items, signaling when they reach the minimum cart value for free shipping.

Upselling in checkout helps you make the most of when customers are ready to buy. By suggesting extra products at checkout, you boost sales and improve their shopping experience. With customizable offers and tracking, it's a powerful tool to increase both profits and customer satisfaction.
