Dynamic Reviews lets you show real product reviews right at checkout β matched to whatever's in your shopper's cart. Upload a CSV of your reviews, and PDQ handles the rest: each review displays next to the product it belongs to.
How to set it up
Go to Checkout Content in the left-side menu, then click Add Extension and select Dynamic Reviews.
Step 1: Upload your CSV
Click Download Template to get the CSV format. Fill in the following fields for each product:
Product ID: the Shopify product ID
Product Name
Review Star Rating: the individual review's rating
Review Text: the actual review content
Reviewer Name
Average Rating: the product's overall average rating
Total Reviews: how many reviews this product has in total
Upload the completed CSV. If anything's missing or formatted wrong, PDQ will flag the errors in red so you can fix them.
Tip: If you only want 5-star reviews to show, filter your CSV before uploading. Star-rating filtering inside PDQ is coming soon with direct integrations.
Step 2: Configure fallback reviews
Some products in the cart might not have reviews in your CSV. Toggle on Fallback Settings to set a generic review that displays for those products. This way, every product at checkout shows something β even if you haven't uploaded a specific review for it.
If fallback is off, products without reviews in the CSV simply won't show a review.
Step 3: Set reviews to display
If a shopper has many products in their cart, you may not want to show a review for every single one. Use Reviews to Display to limit how many reviews show.
Note: This setting only applies to the Carousel and List layouts.
Step 4: Choose your layout
PDQ offers three layout options:
Rating Badge: a compact, inline display showing stars and review count next to each product. You can show just the stars, just the number of reviews, or both.
Review Carousel: scrollable review cards with the full review text, reviewer name, and star rating. Navigate with buttons or scroll.
Review List: reviews stacked one after another. You can set how many show per page before the shopper clicks to see more (pagination).
Step 5: Customize the appearance
Once you pick a layout, you can customize how reviews look:
Star position: top, bottom, or hidden
Star color: match the brand's colors
Review content: use dynamic fields (product name, rating number, review text, reviewer name) to build the review card however you want. Click the dynamic field icon to insert them.
Fonts, colors, spacing: fully customizable
If a review is long, shoppers see a "See more" link that expands the full text inline.
How it works at checkout
When a shopper reaches checkout, PDQ reads the review data for each product in their cart and displays the matching review in the layout you chose. If a product has no review and fallback is on, the generic review shows instead. If fallback is off, nothing appears for that product.
Coming soon
Direct integrations: connect your review app (Okendo first, then Judge.me, Yotpo, and more) so reviews sync automatically. No CSV needed.
Star-rating filtering: set a minimum star rating inside PDQ so only your best reviews display.
Reviews on upsells and gifts: Dynamic Reviews will expand beyond the cart to upsell offers and gift-with-purchase.
