Setting up a new checkout in PDQ is easy.
In this new update, a checkout consists of multiple delivery methods, it’s a set of delivery methods that’s displayed in specific scenarios, with segmentation set by you.
Once you have more than one checkout, you can A/B test them.
In the left hand menu, select Delivery methods
Under Promise tools, click Checkout
Under any existing checkouts click Add checkout
Once you’ve added a checkout, you can add all the delivery methods you’d like displayed in that version of your checkout
Setting up a segment for your checkout
You can also choose to only show your checkout to a specific segment.
For example, you can set a checkout (and its delivery methods) to only be displayed to your store’s first time shoppers.
To segment your checkout:
Select the checkout you’d like to show to a specific segment
Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner
Pick Add segment
Choose a segment
To only show a checkout to first time shoppers, select Customer order count and pick is equals to and then in the field enter 0
Click the Add button
That’s it, you’ve added a segment to this checkout
Some notes:
You need a default checkout to fall back on
You need to have one and only one live checkout method group which has no segments at all. The importance of what we call a Default Checkout is that if a customer doesn’t apply to any of the segmented checkouts, they’ll see this one.
For example, if a checkout has a segment set for [State is NY], and is live, only customers who are in NY will see this checkout and all other customers will see the Default checkout.
Multiple segments in a checkout
You can have more than one segment apply to a checkout, but it’ll automatically be set to “this segment OR this segment” and will be shown if either one’s rules apply. (See screenshot below)
Checkouts can’t clash
You can’t set a checkout as live if any of its segments overlap exactly with a segment in another live checkout. This includes having two live checkouts that have no segments at all.
That’s it!
Now that you have your checkout set up, set up another with different prices, messaging, and options and A/B test the two to see which one performs best.
