Want to nudge shoppers through checkout? Use the Gift Unlock extension to surface a free product, a subscription gift, or a coupon at the moment they're closest to converting. It's the surprise-and-delight lever for cart abandoners, first-time buyers, or any segment that needs one more reason to click "place order".
How it works
Gift Unlock displays a teaser banner during checkout. Shoppers either see the gift right away, or click through to reveal it. Either way, they get a small reward and you get a higher completion rate.
Common use cases
Free product gift — drop a low-cost, high-margin item in the cart automatically when shoppers cross a threshold.
Coupon as gift — surface a one-time discount code that auto-applies on click.
Subscription gift — offer a free first delivery on a Selling Plan Product.
Setting it up
For the full walkthrough — all three offer types (Product, Selling Plan Product, Coupon), display conditions, styling, and Shopify install — see Setting up Gift Unlock.
Tips
Use Display Conditions to scope the gift — only above a cart total, only for new customers, only for tagged segments.
For the surprise-and-delight effect, leave Gift Message on and configure the Information Not Provided sub-tab to hide details until shoppers engage.
Pair with a Digital Upsell timer if you want urgency on top — but be sparing, two timers in checkout is one too many.
For coupons, set Combines With deliberately. Stacking gift coupons on top of site-wide promos can erode your margins.
