When an order is too big or heavy for a single box, you can split it into multiple packages so each parcel ships with the right type and weight. All major carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS) support multi-parcel shipments.
📋 Before you start - two prerequisites:
This option must be enabled by PDQ. If you don't see the option to add or split packages, contact support@prettydamnquick.com to have it turned on for your account.
Do it on the Assign screen. Packages can only be added or split while the order is on the Assign screen - once it's batched and moves to Fulfil, the package configuration is locked. Split the order before you batch it.
How to add packages
On the Assign screen, open the order and go to Order Details.
Under Inventory location, confirm the warehouse the order ships from.
In Number Of Packages, set how many boxes the order needs (use the stepper or type a number), then click Save. Packages total updates to match.
In the item details, use the Set package dropdown to choose the package type for the order - e.g. Default (12×8.75×6), Small (10×10×10), Medium (15×15×15), or Large (20×20×20).
That's it - the order will ship across the number of boxes you set.
Good to know
One package type per order. You select a single package type for the order -you can't assign a different type to each individual box.
No manual weight entry. You don't set a weight per box -you only choose the number of packages and the package type. Weight is handled automatically.
Packages are boxes, not item groups. Setting the number of packages tells the carrier how many parcels to expect; it doesn't let you assign specific items to specific boxes. You decide physically what goes in each box.
